    Innkeepers of the Year!

The Iowa Lodging Association and the Iowa Bed and Breakfast Guild presented Daphne and Jaime Reyes with the 2009 Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers of the Year Award. This honor recognizes their contribution in building a stronger B&B community as well as outstanding services to their guests. Comments such as "...a piece of heaven" or "you have set the standards..." are commonly shared with the Reyes. Congratulations to Daphne and Jaime! Please feel free to visit them.

    LaCIM is Born

The Latino Cultural Institute of the Midwest, LaCIM, Daphne and Jaime's nonprofit organization, received 501(c)3 status on July 2, 2008. LaCIM is working for a better understanding of the Latino culture in the Midwest. Work is now underway to create a board of directors and to plan for future activities. For more information, please contact Jaime Reyes at jr@lacim.org.

    Facets

MonteBello B&B Inn was featured on the cover of Facets in July of 2009. The article told of how Daphne and Jaime Reyes have dealt with the existing economic situation. The quote on the cover, "A little slice of heaven close to home", was from a guest staying at the time.

    IBBG and CITR

Daphne is an active member of the Iowa Bed and Breakfast Guild, IBBG, and is a representative on the board of advisors. She also continues her work for the Central Iowa Tourism Region, CITR, as a representative from MonteBello B&B Inn and from the IBBG.

    Farmscape

Farmscape is the title of the play written by Mary Swander, Iowa Poet Laureate, and her ISU Creative Writing graduate students. The play is based on interviews with rural Iowa residents whose lives and lands have been affected by farm crises, the economy and their proximity to urban areas. Daphne and Jaime were included in this play because their Bed and Breakfast property was at one point—and continues to be—in an area ideal for development. Jaime has played himself in several showings of this play, most recently at the Hearst Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa on November 7, 2009.

    Staff Achievements

Heidi Reyes' photographs on Flickr have been accepted for publication in Heritage Key, Trazzler, and Transit.

We are now doing fun, relaxing retreats and reunions for families and friends!
